BioCode-HP Analyzer is a simple and robust BMB
optical imaging system for a 96-well microplate format. The BioCode-HP Analyzer
includes a rotating disc, imaging optics, and
CCD detector. The BMBs are redistributed from a
microwell to the rotating disc to provide a
uniform bead distribution over a large surface
area. The imaging optics scans the disc, as well
as a CCD camera that detects both bright field
barcode image and fluorescence image. By
overlapping the two images, the analyzer rapidly
decodes and measures the fluorescence intensity
of every single bead. The bead redistribution on
the rotating disc allows barcode identification
and fluorescence detection for unlimited number
of beads. Phycoerythrin (PE) is a common
fluorophore used for analyte detection. Other
fluorophores can also be accommodated by
switching optical filter sets. In brief, the
system uses high contrast digital barcode to
identify which probe is coupled on the bead
surface, and uses fluorescence to quantify a
positive or negative reaction on the bead. The
analyzer displays the barcode and fluorescence
intensity for each BMB, facilitating clear
reporting of reaction results for each specific
probe or analyte.
